Mark A. Payares, DPT
Mark Payares is a lover of cycling and endurance sports and is the owner of Lotus 1 Multisport. He has been a cycling coach since 1999 with a focus on ultra-endurance, cyclocross, gravel, road and criterium racing, running, and triathlons. Mark also works as an orthopedic physical therapist holding a doctorate degree in physical therapy and licensed in Illinois. As a coach, he applies the “art of the science” to help simplify data overload in today’s technology driven era. As a USA Cycling category 3 licensed racer and coach, Mark has an understanding of the demands his athletes have working towards their events. In addition, Mark also performs bike fitting utilizing his physical therapy background to unite bike and body.
When not coaching, Mark can be found riding his bike training for gravel and ultra-endurance events in the Mid-West. He recently completed his first marathon in Chicago in 2018. Mark, a California transplant, currently resides in Evanston, Illinois and is a USA Cycling Level 2, a USA Triathlon Level 1, and a Training Peaks Level 2 coach. He can be reached at
